From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
