This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's locked-room horror stands strong despite the lack of a follow-up. Set in 1978 Denver, a series of child abductions has rendered the children on edge. However, the disconnected phone mounted nearby repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices giving advice, while the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen could save him. A genuinely scary movie. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's delightfully tacky biopic of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye commence profiting from the American public's religious faith. It's a spectacle of poor styling, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, though Jessica Chastain succeeds to show the real-life figure with compassion. October 14th, 1.15am, on Film4
